Interstate 70 in Belmont County Remains Closed Following Fatal Crash; Alcohol May Be a Factor

UPDATE: Interstate 70 in Belmont County Reopens After Crash Claims Life of Bellaire Man

Both lanes of Interstate 70 westbound reopened early Thursday morning after a fatal crash in Belmont County claimed the life of a Bellaire man late Wednesday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said that around 11 p.m. Wednesday night, the driver of a motorcycle, Jimmy DiFabrizio, 55, of Bellaire, was killed following the crash involving a semi-truck. Authorities say DiFabrizio was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Troopers say DiFabrizio was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when he went off the right side of the road and was ejected from his motorcycle.  The motorcycle then went back onto the highway and was struck by the semi.  The semi then went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. The semi-truck driver was identified has 30-year-old Ronald L. Glover of Kentucky.

The crash remains under investigation.
