Man Caught After Allegedly Stealing Car in Elm Grove, Chase Ends in Ohio
An 18-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly stealing a car from an Elm Grove parking lot.
According to Sgt. Gregg McKenzie of the Wheeling Police Department, Raymond Cordell Asbury IV was arrested at about 3 a.m. Monday morning for grand theft auto and fleeing. Asbury allegedly stole a vehicle parked at CD's Irish Pub in Elm Grove. Wheeling police say they saw Asbury driving the car shortly after it was stolen, and he fled in the vehicle to Ohio where Wheeling police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol were able to stop him near exit 220 on I-70 west.
McKenzie said once Asbury was out of vehicle, he attempted to flee by jumping over a fence, and running on the roadway about 200 yards where officers were able to catch and arrest him.
Asbury was taken into custody and transported to the Belmont County Jail, where his bond is set at $15,000.
