Union Local Superintendent Arrested on Child Porn Charges Posts Bond, Now Off the Job and Off the Payroll
The Union Local school superintendent who is facing child porn charges is no longer getting paid by the school system.
Doug Thoburn, who posted his $60,000 bond and was released from jail late last week, is now is technically off the job and off the payroll. When Thoburn was first arrested and jailed, the board of education placed him on paid administrative leave, which is now no longer in effect. Although he posted bond, Thoburn is still not free to go back to work, as he is technically "unavailable," he is no longer getting a check.
'The condition of his bond that he bonded out on is that he's not to be on the premises here or to have contact with minors, and therefore the board took action to place him on what's called "unrequested administrative leave" without pay," said attorney for Union Local Schools, Gary Smith. The next step in Thoburn's case is the grand jury, and that could happen in September. The school board's attorney said if Thoburn is convicted of a felony, and his charges are all felonies, then the state would automatically revoke his license.
If convicted, Thoburn could get a maximum of 32 years in prison.
