Wheeling Business Owner Charged With Battery After Confrontation With Employee
A Wheeling business owner has been charged with battery after police say an argument with an employee turned physical.
The incident allegedly happened at a Wheeling restaurant Tuesday. David Wohlfiel is accused of throwing a drink in an employee's face, pushing her into the corner and grabbing her tie.
Police said two detectives were able to watch what happened on security video taken at the restaurant. He was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
Wohfiel said the altercation started when the employee was being fired and the woman called him personal derogatory names, which the employee denies. Wohlfiel said he was the one who called police about the incident.
He pleaded no contest to a battery charge in 2007.
