A Georgia man was behind bars on Friday and facing several charges, including assaulting an officer.
According to New Martinsville Police Chief, Tim Cecil, he received a call of a battery on Monroe Ave Thursday evening, and when Cecil arrived on scene, the suspect was gone. It wasn't until later Thursday evening he spotted suspect DeMarcus Boswell at a football practice.
Cecil tried to make an arrest when Boswell allegedly pushed him and took off running. He was later found and arrested at a home on 4th street in New Martinsville. Monroe County, Wetzel County sheriff's Departments, and the New Martinsville Police Department, as well as the West Virginia State Police all responded.
Boswell is facing assault of an officer, fleeing, and battery charges. He remained behind bars in the Northern Regional Jail on Friday morning awaiting a pre-trial hearing. Bond was not set.
