UPDATE: Ohio County Man Sentenced to 2-10 Years in Prison for Child Abuse

Posted: Updated:
Ohio County resident Chad Kendle was sentenced to 2-10 years in prison on child abuse charges Thursday.

Kendle will also have to register with the National Child Abuse Registry for 20 years after his release.

He had been indicted in May of this year after his child was admitted to a Pittsburgh hospital in August of 2013 with a number of injuries, including profound weight loss and a bilateral subdural hematoma. Earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to one felony count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Police said Kendle admitted to shaking the child after it wouldn't stop crying. Doctors said the child was also suffering from starvation due to parental neglect and could have died.
