W.Va Jails and Prisons Looking at New Cost Effective Measures
The cost of running a jail is not small.
On Thursday, local government officials met with the staff with the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail to discuss some cost effective measures that could be implemented.
Some of the topics included cost control issues as well as upgrades to the infrastructure and technology.
The meeting began with a power point presentation from the executive director of the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority Joe DeLong.
DeLong talked about improvements that have been made and that need to be made to the jail.
Later a round table discussion was held with those in attendance.
"We have been doing these community meetings all over the State. We are going to our paying customers base which is the local government, to share ideas with them on how we think that with some legislative help that we can serve them better," added Joe DeLong Executive Director of the Regional Jail Authority.
Everyone in attendance was given a tour of the facility.
