Power outages were reported early Monday morning in several counties in Ohio and West Virginia. While power was restored in some areas, others remain without electricity. As of 1 p.m. 1,200 customers are without power in Jefferson County, Ohio according to AEP Ohio. Four hundred and eighty-nine customers continue to be without power in Brooke County, according to MonPower and Appalachian Power is reporting 514 homes without electricity.
Weather may have also been the cause of damage to the former Wheeling-Pitt headquarters and the Stone Center in Wheeling. Authorities say debris fell from both buildings onto Market Street prompting police to restrict access to part of the roadway to motorists.
