A Wheeling woman is facing malicious wounding charges after she got into an altercation with her boyfriend late Saturday night.
Wheeling Police said they responded to a local hotel for a report of a man bleeding from the head. Officers said they made contact with the victim, who told them that Karen Dyer, 43, allegedly threw a coffee pot at him and hit him with a metal spatula.
The man told police he and Dyer were at a bar when they got into an argument and he wanted to leave. He said as they walked to the hotel, Dyer reportedly kept sitting down and refusing to walk. He said when she did get up, she began to slap him as they walked back to the hotel. The victim said when they got back to the hotel, Dyer continue to argue and smack him, and then threw a coffee pot that almost hit him. He said he had to push Dyer off of him, and that is when she allegedly grabbed a metal spatula and struck him on the side of his head.
A separate witness said he was laying in bed and tried to ignore the couple as they were fighting, but did tell police Dyer threw a coffee pot at the victim. He said they couple began to "wrestle" and that is when Dyer hit the victim with the metal spatula.
Dyer told police the victim called her derogatory terms because she was talking to other men at the bar.
She was taken into custody for malicious assault and was arraigned by Magistrate Joe Roxby.
