Federal Grand Jury Indicts Wheeling Man on Child Porn Charges

WHEELING - A Wheeling man was indicted Feb. 4 by a federal grand jury for allegedly using his neighbors wireless internet connection to download child porn.

An investigation by the Wheeling Police Department, the West Virginia State Police and the FBI revealed that Bernie George Bair, 51, obtained a wireless internet password from his neighbor and used the neighbors internet connection to repeatedly download child pornography throughout late 2014, according to U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld, II. 

Bair was previously convicted in September of 1995 in Belmont County, OH for gross sexual imposition, a felony offense.

Bair was charged with one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography and faces between 15 and 40 years in prison along with a fine of up to $250,000.

He was also charged with one count of possession of child porn, for which he faces between 10 to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
