Streets Around Federal Building Reopen After Evacuation

UPDATE:

The streets around the Federal Building in downtown Wheeling have reopened to traffic.

Wheeling Police said the Federal Building will remain closed throughout the day while the investigation continues.

UPDATE: FRIDAY, NOON:

The Federal Building in downtown Wheeling remains evacuated as of noon Friday.  No other buildings have been evacuated.

Right now police are keeping drivers and walkers away about two blocks back, as a precaution.

Our WTRF crew on site was only allowed up to 14th Street.

Police say the threat started with an automated message, not a live person, calling into 911.

"We are taking that very seriously. There are dogs on scene right now. More dogs are on the way." said Sgt. Gregg McKenzie of the Wheeling Police Department.

"I have no concerns whatsoever. I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. I think it's just a matter of seeing our local law enforcement practicing due diligence." said Matt Welsch, Owner & Chef at Vagabond Kitchen

Any new or other information will have to come from the FBI in Clarksburg.  Police say they are taking every precaution, especially after a shooting spree that happened in October, two years ago.
