Richard Lee Savey was arraigned by Ohio County Magistrate Joe Roxby Sunday and has been released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.
He is charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor brandishing.
Wheeling Police arrested a man who was waving a machete outside of his truck window Saturday afternoon.
Officers arrested Richard Lee Savey III of Wellsburg, NY around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Savey was driving on Bethany Pike towards Wheeling when officers were alerted he was waving a machete outside his window.
Five police cruisers stopped Savey on Orchard Drive near the Children's Home after he drove through Wesbanco's parking lot.
Officers reported Savey's reason for waving the machete around was because he was frustrated and angry because he had been cut off by many drivers in traffic. Officers charged Savey with brandishing and assault. They reported he was acting irrationally and making threatening motions with the weapon. There were no injuries involved in the situation.
Savey is being held at the Northern Regional Jail.
