Ohio County Sheriff Pat Butler confirms that one person is dead and two others are seriously injured after a crash on the section of I-70 known as Two Mile Hill.

Sheriff Butler said the crash occurred between 12:30 and 1:30 Saturday morning, involving both the eastbound and westbound lanes.

He said a westbound vehicle lost control and veered into the eastbound lanes, striking another vehicle.

The strike of the two cars caused them to catch fire.

One person--reportedly the driver of the westbound vehicle--is dead, while two others were flown from the scene by medical helicopters to out-of-town hospitals, according to the sheriff.

Both vehicles are being examined by the Wheeling Police crash re-constructionist, according to towing company officials.

Officials say they have no information about the cause of the crash at this point, and they are not releasing the names of the dead and injured.
