WHEELING, W.Va -

Several officers were called to the Firehouse gas station on Wheeling Island for a robbery that occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on Monday.

Once there, police interviewed workers who say Trovonte Blackmon, 22, came into the store and approached the counter with items. After ringing him up, clerks say Blackmon refused to pay and took the items and left the store.

The clerks tell police that Blackmon claimed to have a gun. According to a police report, a fight ensued between Blackmon and the clerks, resulting in one of the clerk's teeth being knocked out, before Blackmon was pinned to ground until police arrived.

"Well the guy came in, he was in here for about 15 to 20 minutes and he got a bunch of stuff. When the clerk went to ring him out, he kind of said 'Well this'll have to be an I-O-U.' (He) grabbed the bags and walked out the door," said cashier, Megan Becker.

Becker says this comes as a shock, because Blackmon is a regular customer of theirs.

Blackmon was arraigned by Ohio County Magistrate Harry Radcliffe Tuesday morning and placed under a $100,000 bond.
