Police Find Heroin During Routine Traffic Stop in Wheeling
WHEELING, W.Va -
Police in Wheeling arrested a man after finding heroin during a routine traffic stop.
Police say they pulled over Rashawn Lee Curd in North Wheeling for speeding and improper display of registration.
An officer asked for consent to search the vehicle. According to a criminal complaint, Curd denied the request. Officers had a K-9 do a sniff of the exterior of the vehicle for the odor of narcotics. The K-9 gave a positive alert on the passenger side of the vehicle. Police discovered a clear bag with five individually-wrapped bags containing heroin.
Curd was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver heroin.
He appeared before Magistrate Harry Radcliffe and was remanded to the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail under $50,000 cash bond.
