WHEELING, W.Va -

A Wheeling man is behind bars after reportedly leading police on a high speed chase early Friday morning.

Police say they attempted to stop Charles Lamont Wallace, 29 of Wheeling, near Mall Road in St. Clairsville for failure to dim his headlights. He took off on Interstate 70 East and three troopers began chasing him.

Wheeling Police received a call just before 2:00 a.m. from the Ohio State Highway Patrol that Wallace was on I-70, heading towards West Virginia

According to police, the chase reached speeds of up to 115 miles per hour and Wallace was passing trucks on the right and left. One trooper says he was able to get in front of Wallace's vehicle but was nearly rear-ended.

Wallace reportedly wrecked his vehicle while getting off the exit to Route 2.

Police arrested Wallace and are charging him with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, along with Failure to Dim Headlights, OVI, Faillure to Wear a Seat Belt and No Drivers License.

He was taken to the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail.
