Ticket Sales Spark Second Christmas Concert in Wheeling

Posted: Updated:

Just as the youngsters were streaming into WesBanco Arena, other people were standing in line at the box office for tickets to the "I Remember B.E. Taylor" concert, Tuesday.

The tickets went on sale promptly at 10 a.m., not only at the arena but also online and by phone. People told us they lined up hours early for tickets to the concert that honors that late B.E. Taylor, who passed away last summer.

The tickets were hot commodities, and everyone wanted a front row seat, "I'm standing in line to buy B.E. Taylor tickets but I'm afraid they're selling out so I'm ordering them online as I'm in line. Every time I go in there to click, less and less seats are available," said Corisa Case of Adena.

"I'm doing the same thing. I'm doing it online because right now the best available is in the upper level," said Bill Piko of Wheeling.

"Got here at 8 a.m. And we are being told now that the floor seats are sold out and all we can get is balcony," said Penne Cooper of Moundsville.

"My wife was just saying if they would have put two shows in, everybody would have been able to get tickets," said Tim Porter of St. Clairsville.

"They're not paying attention to the no parking signs, some of them were and had to go and move their cars and some of them may have lost their place in line so it's made it a very interesting morning," said Cpl. Garrett Pugh of the Wheeling Police Department.

Generations of people loved Taylor's unique arrangements of Christmas classics. The concert will feature Taylor's son, brother, nieces and many friends and fellow musicians.

It's set for 7:30 p.m., December 22 at Wheeling's Capitol Theatre. There are still a few seats available for that concert and because there was such an outpouring of support and so many people wanting tickets, B.E.Taylor's family announced they are scheduling a second show.

It will actually be the day before the original show. It will be Thursday, December 21s .also at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre.

Tickets for that show will go on sale this Saturday at noon at the WesBanco Arena Box Office.
